The 2026 tax calendar every small business should print
Estimated payments, 1099s, annual reports and payroll filings — the dates that actually cost money when missed.
Most penalties we see are not the result of bad bookkeeping. They come from a date that passed quietly while the owner was busy running the business.
The four that matter most - January 31: 1099-NEC forms to contractors and to the IRS. - April 15: first estimated tax payment and most individual returns. - Your state's annual report date, which is different in almost every state. - Payroll deposits, which follow your own deposit schedule, not the calendar quarter.
Build the calendar once Put every date in one shared calendar with a two-week reminder, not a one-day reminder. Two weeks is enough time to gather a missing W-9 or move money for an estimated payment.
What we do for clients Every plan includes a compliance calendar with federal and state alerts, so the reminder reaches you before the deadline instead of after the notice.
